I have a question about keeping players. Say I draft Josh Donaldson who is set to be a FA this off-season. How do I keep Donaldson after 2018? Are there tags that can be used to keep him? Also, what about pre-arb players that are on year 2 year contracts? If a prospect (Robles) is called up; how long do we get to keep said prospect for? Thanks.

Hey Jon,
You keep the player for as long as you like. You just need to be able to afford the player's salary under your cap. We are using the player's real life salary each year (using 2017 salaries for our upcoming season, 2018 salaries will be used for 2019, and so on). Same thing with pre-arbitration players. You keep the player as long as you like, as long as it fits within your salary cap.
Let me know if you are still unclear about how this works.
Thanks!

Just a quick question in regards to dual eligibility. Do you know off hand if it will carry over to the start of the season or if Fantrax adjusts position eligibility throughout the offseason...thanks!

"You may keep a player as long as you like." Does this mean there is no buyout salary penalty? I'm good either way.

I think Fantrax has the info for position eligibility in the commissioner settings. I'll check it out and get back to you with the details.

You can keep/trade/cut a player without any penalties. The player's salary comes off the books once you release the player and is added to your available cap space.

Thanks, I checked the frequently asked questions section along with a few others & couldn't find anything definitive.
