Hi all,
I’m struggling a bit with the 7 day pitcher rule when picking up the pitcher as a free agent.
I get there is a desire to not have streaming pitchers, which I agree with, but can we consider (for next year perhaps) carving out an exception if you’re dropping a starter due to a minor league promotion?
E.g. I picked up David Hess and Jordan Lyles and then unexpectedly Toussaint got promoted. Dropping Hess or Lyles for another starter would be wrong, but if I’m dropping them to promote Toussaint, could this be allowed in future years, as this is not a device to stream pitching, given I can’t predict when my minor league players will be promoted...
Food for thought. I’m Happy to be told to suck it up and make it work.

Sure BOS, we can always take a look at it in the off season and see if there's a better way to manage situations as you describe above.

Personally, I like the rule as it stands. I usually know well in advance if somebody is going to get called up. If somebody is coming back from injury etc. It would be really easy to game the system by picking up a pitcher just before you know a minor/IL player is about to get put on the roster. If this was a pure ROTO league where you compete all year long against every other team instead of week to week then I don't think it would be as big of a deal.
