Hey everyone, A lot of this stuff will be covered in the rules, but I thought I would share a bit of information regarding salaries and salary cap for the league. - Every team will start off with a $135 million cap (based on the average spending for the 2017 25 man opening day roster of all MLB teams from Cots). Every two years, I will check the average spending of MLB teams and add additional cap if needed (to keep up with MLB spending and contracts). You will also be able to earn a little extra cap by winning games in the regular season, making the playoffs, and winning the league. - To view a list of player salaries, you can view the spreadsheet attached or the below link. The spreadsheet contains 2017 player salaries from Cots (thanks Hank/Tampa Bay for this!). The below link (thanks Houston for finding this site!) contains player salaries in a view with filters. To view the correct salary, click the dropdown and select 2017 Base Salaries, then select the team in the next dropdown, and click GO. www.spotrac.com/mlb/rankings/base/BigLeagueDynasty Salary Tracker.xlsx (59.69 KB) - For each season, we will use the previous year's salaries. We will be using 2017 salaries for the upcoming 2018 season. That way, people will know the exact salary they have to work with without having to wait for updates to the current year salary and doing guesswork while waiting for real life arbitration cases to complete during the off season process. - The current plan is to create a league spreadsheet for tracking each team's roster and salaries. I plan to have this ready for when we begin drafting October 20.

I'm just noticing that the salaries from the spreadsheet do not match up w/ the "base" salaries from Spotrac. They match up w/ the "payroll" salaries. Just wanted to bring this up early on, in a few instances the spread between base and payroll salaries is quite large. Thanks.

We are using the base salary and I have the right/accurate salaries on the spreadsheet that Houston (Mark) created for me to track the league with. I'll update the original post above with that spreadsheet. Also, I'll eventually share the file so that everyone can view it as I keep it updated.

Are we going to keep track of our teams here on proboards? I will be tracking all teams on a spreadsheet. I will eventually get around to sharing it out so that everyone can see it when I make updates. In the meantime, I'll be posting updated versions of the file on the Pro Boards as we continue to progress through the draft. I'll be posting my first update over the weekend. You can also track your own team if you would like (just to help yourself out and to double check my work).
