- To participate in the auction, you must have less than 25 players on your active roster. If you have exactly 25 players on your roster, you will not be eligible to participate in the auction.
- The following players are eligible for bidding in the off-season auction:
* An available player not owned by any team in Big League Dynasty.
* Hitter/pitcher should be affiliated with an MLB team or in the process of signing with an MLB team prior to start of auction.
* Hitter must have over 130 career MLB at bats.
* Pitcher must have over 50 career MLB innings pitched.
* Any player that’s an Asian international signing with professional
experience (Korean Baseball Organization, Nippon Professional Baseball,
Taiwan).
- To place an initial bid on a player, make a post in the Off-season auction board on the Pro Boards with the player's name as the title of the post/bid. In the message of the post, include the starting bid.
- Subsequent bids on that player from other teams will be tracked by replying to the post.
- Each team can bid as often as they would like. The only limit is that you must have the cap space/roster space for the player you are bidding on.
For example, if Yankees placed an initial bid on a player and another team replied with a higher bid, Yankees can reply and increase the bid further if desired.
- Each team can bid on any players as they'd like, as long as they have enough roster space for the players.
For example, if I have 2 roster spot openings, the max I can bid on at once is 2 players.
- The lowest starting bid for an available player is 50% of their 2018 player salary. If a player's 2018 salary starts at 1 million or below, the lowest starting bid will be the 2018 league minimum salary (545,000).
For example, if a player's 2018 salary is 14 million, the lowest initial bid would be 7 million. If a player's 2018 salary is 1 million, the lowest initial bid would be 545,000.
*NOTE: Any Asian international signing that did not play in the Majors last season will have a lowest initial bid of the league minimum.
**NOTE: Any MLB player that does not have a listed salary will have a lowest initial bid of the league minimum.
- You can increase the bidding by a minimum of 100,000.
For example, if a player's current bid is at 7 million, I can increase it to 7.1 million or more.
- If a player goes 24 hours without receiving any additional bids, the auction is considered closed for that player and awarded to the highest bidding team.
- The winning auction value for a player becomes that player's salary for the remainder of the season. If that player is retained for future seasons, his salary will go back to being based on his real life player salary.
- The player will retain his auction salary for the remainder of the season, even if the player is released and subsequently added as a free agent in Big League Dynasty during the season.
- The player will keep his auction salary for the remainder of the season, even if the player is traded in Big League Dynasty to another team during the season.
- Once the off-season auction is complete, trading will resume and in-season free agency will open at a date determined by the league commissioner.
