- A team can add/drop a player as needed, provided that the add/drop fits the team’s available cap space and the team’s roster stays legal (must maintain 18 man active starting lineup and 25 players overall).
- Only active MLB players (players actively on a real life MLB 25 man roster) can be added from free agency
- Free agent players currently on the DL/IL are ineligible for claiming until they are off the DL/IL.
- When adding or promoting a starting pitcher to the active 25 man roster, the starting pitcher must remain on the active 25 man roster for a minimum of 7 days unless that roster spot is used for a hitter, relief pitcher, or an SP not scheduled to start during the remainder of the week (to help prevent overt or chronic streaming of starting pitchers for a given week). If used for a hitter or relief pitcher, the hitter or relief pitcher can't be cut in exchange for another current week scheduled starting pitcher until 7 days have passed.
- Each team will be allowed 3 in-season minor league claims.
- The following below is the criteria for minor league claim eligibility:
* Hitter/pitcher must be affiliated with an MLB team and not already owned by a
team in Big League Dynasty.
* Hitter/pitcher must be currently in the minor leagues and not on the real life
MLB active 25 man roster. Any player currently on the real life MLB active 25 man
roster is not eligible for a minor league claim and only eligible for regular
free agency.
* Hitter must have 130 or less career MLB at bats.
* Pitcher must have 50 or less career MLB innings pitched.
* Any player that’s a current year Latin American international signing is NOT
eligible for claiming.
* Any player that’s a current year MLB First Year Player's Draft prospect is NOT
eligible for claiming.
- To add a real life minor league call up in regular free agency to your 25 man active roster (not added as a minor league claim), the player must have the Fantrax minor league indicator (green flag) removed before adding the player. The player is ineligible for claiming in regular free agency if he still has a green flag indicator next to his name in Fantrax.
- Minor league call ups added during the season in regular free agency (not added as a minor league claim) are treated like regular veteran MLB players and are not eligible for the 30 man minor league roster unless they meet the following criteria:
* Are demoted to the minors by their real life team.
* If a hitter, must have 130 or less career MLB at bats.
* If a pitcher, must have 50 or less career MLB innings pitched.
If the player meets the above criteria, they can be demoted and will count as an in season minor league claim (will count as one of a team's 3 claims)
If the player is demoted to the minors by their real life team, and a Big League Dynasty team no longer has in-season minor league claims (already used all 3 claims), then the player would only be eligible for the Taxi Squad.
If the player is demoted to the minors by their real life team, but have more than 130 career MLB at bats or more than 50 career MLB innings pitched, they are only eligible for the Taxi Squad.
- During the playoffs, free agency will remain open for all teams. Free Agency will close at the end of the playoffs.
