Let's say a player is dropped, who 1) was originally selected in a minor league draft, and 2) is still under the AB/IP limit for minor league eligibility. If I add him to my team, can I place him on my minors roster?

Good question....
Nope, he becomes a regular free agent add at that point and follows regular free agent rules (can only demote to minors if he's demoted in real life and would cost an in season minor league claim. Otherwise, eligible for taxi squad if demoted in real life and you don't want to demote/use an in season minor league claim).
