- Starting Cap: $135 million (based on the average spending for the 2017 25 man opening day roster of all MLB teams from Cots).
- Every year, I will check the average spending of MLB teams and add additional cap if needed (to keep up with MLB spending and contracts).
- There will be no trading of cap dollars.
- The league will use real world MLB player salaries. To view a list of player salaries, you can view the spreadsheet attached or the below link. The spreadsheet contains 2017 player salaries from Cots (thanks Hank/Tampa Bay for this!). The below link (thanks Houston for finding this site!) contains player salaries in a view with filters. To view the correct salary, click the dropdown and select 2017 Base Salaries, then select the team in the next dropdown, and click GO.

- For each season, we will use the previous year's salaries. We will be using 2017 salaries for the upcoming 2018 season, for example. That way, people will know the exact salary they have to work with without having to wait for updates to the current year salary and doing guesswork while waiting for real life arbitration cases to complete during the off season process.
- During the regular season, you are required to be under cap at all times. If you ever go over cap, you will be given 24 hours to fix the issue. If not fixed within 24 hours, the league commissioner will make adjustments to the roster in order to make the roster legal.
- During the off season, as we adjust to the new season salaries, you are allowed to be over cap until the off season deadline/roster cutoff date (deadline is discussed in Off Season section of rules).
- Players added to your team’s Disabled List (DL) will not count against your salary cap. The player’s salary only counts against your salary cap when they are on your active roster.
- Minor league players do not count against your salary cap until they are called up to your active roster.
- Players added to your Taxi Squad do not count against your salary cap.
- When signing/trading for players during the regular season, make sure that the difference in salary between player salaries fits your cap space. Otherwise, the move will be deemed illegal (since you would be over cap). For example, if I add Player A (5 mil salary) and drop Player B (2 mil salary), I will need at least 3 mil of additional cap space available in order to make the move.
- There will be a league spreadsheet for tracking each team's roster and salaries/cap.
