Just noticed you posted threads for the MLB draft in ProBoards. Can I suggest using Fantrax for the draft? I used it last year, and I thought it worked very well; unlike ESPN or Yahoo, it allows you to set up a slow on-line draft. Some of the features I found helpful: - You (administrator) can set a maximum time for each pick. - Managers can turn on e-mail notification when their turn is coming up. - Each manager can arrange players in his auto-draft queue, and either enable or disable autodrafting. So if my turn in the draft is coming up but I'm going to be away, I can put my top 3-4 available players in my queue; when my turn comes, Fantrax will select for me the top player in my queue and move immediately to the next team. This feature can really help keep a draft moving along. - If a manager's time expires, Fantrax will auto-draft for him, either from his queue, his pre-draft rankings or default rankings, and immediately start the clock on the next team. Never any question about "is it my turn yet?" or "should we give so-and-so a little more time?" - It's easier for all managers to see who is still available, compared to tracking in ProBoards (where I've encountered problems with the search feature)
I'm okay either way, but using the Fantrax draft may be easier and more automatic to administer.

Great idea, completely forgot about the "slow" draft option. Also the Commish has the option to set it up so it automatically emails whoever is OTC & on deck. You can pause the draft for as long as you wish too so technically we could do both portions all in one. Only thing owners would need to do before resuming to the MLB portion is move the MiLB players down to the Minors section of their draft room roster. I personally I think that is the best route to go, a lot more efficient in all aspects.

Thanks for the suggestion...I didn't realize you could do this! This sounds really good actually. I'll have to figure out how to set it up, which doesn't seem too hard. This would probably be the way to go for running the draft. I see 4 selections for draft: live online standard, live online auction, automated, and offline. I have it set to offline....do you know where I might need to go to update it to the slow online draft feature?

Under the draft portion of the league setup in the commissioner options when you change it to live standard, you can set the draft pick time limit to whatever you desire. Then in the draft room under the commissioner options you can pause, resume, change pick time limit, etc.

After messing around with the draft options I noticed the only way you could do both drafts in one is extend the bench by 25 which would be used for your MiLB players. Then once the draft is complete move those players to the 25 minors spots. Just do the 1st 25 rounds the MiLB portion first. Only question I have is are any prospect eligible players that went undrafted in the MiLB draft eligible to be drafted in the MLB portion of the draft? Only thing doing it that way is having "good faith" that owners won't exceed the 7 bench spots through free agency because once you change the allotted bench spots once the draft is completed it makes the rosters invalid. Also noticed too that if we do the MiLB portion offline the really nice part is each owner can go into free agency and add the players to their minor league rosters themselves.

Sounds great, but I've never down a draft for Fantrax at all, only Yahoo.
I may need some help with Fantrax drafting system, this is my 1st season in Fantrax.
I've been in Yahoo since 2010.

Best thing to do is create a free league and then just mess around in the draft room. You can delete the league whenever you want.

Damn, I wasn't thinking about inverse order for the MLB portion of the draft when I posted earlier about doing both drafts in one. I was looking at it & technically it can be done, but with the amount of teams & picks it would be extremely tedious & time consuming. Could just do two separate drafts with the MLB one being the league that is already set up. After that one is done then everyone can refer back to the MiLB draft & add their own players to their minors roster. .
